Finding lipsticks that work for me is quite the task. For starters, I have very sensitive and dry lips. Almost all drugstore and even some higher end lipsticks leave my lips in a flaky mess after hours of wear. I almost always tend to stray away from lipsticks and opt for a more hydrating gloss or lip stain.
I had heard good reviews about the Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lipsticks and was always curious to see if these lipsticks would work out for me. The description on the Too Faced website claims:
“There’s rich, there’s obscenely rich and then there’s our La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream. Oozing with lip-conditioning hydrators, including white lotus flower, it treats while it enhances lips.”
They retail for $22 and can be purchased at Sephora or the Too Faced website. I couldn’t quite justify the price at the moment but mentioned this lipstick to my boyfriend, though he probably didn’t care. But lo and behold a week later it showed up on my doorstep! What a sweetie pie!
First off, let’s stop and admire the cute packaging!! The box is gorgeous and has a very nice almost velvet feeling texture with gold holographic embossing. I couldn’t throw it away! And the gold lipstick tube definitely gives it a very classy touch. The lipstick comes with 0.11oz of product and has a flat top cylindrical shape.
The shade I got is Spice Spice Baby which is a really nice MLBB color. It is a very natural deep pink color with slight brown undertones that would look flattering on all skin tones. With one swipe, the color is pretty sheer and hydrating, but can be built up for a richer color. I find that this color looks very natural on, but has just enough color to look well put together for everyday wear.
The application of this lipstick is very smooth and the texture is very creamy. I find that even if my lips are not perfectly exfoliated and my lips don’t look too great right after application, aka my dry lips are visible, this lipstick works its magic to soothe my lips with wear. It literally makes my lips feel and look better, like a lip conditioner with great color payoff. And another great thing about this lipstick, once the color wears off, it doesn’t cause my lips to flake!! Because the formula is very creamy, I find that the color doesn’t last more than several hours, but reapplication is effortless and still looks great.
My final thoughts on the Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lipsticks? They’re freaking amazing!! I especially love the Spice Spice Baby color, as it’s totally wearable and suitable for every occasion and every skin tone. This lipstick formulation is perfect for those with stubborn, sensitive lips and leaves your lips feeling hydrated without the flaky lips at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend this lipstick to everyone and can’t wait to pick up some more shades.
Have you tried this lipstick? What are your thoughts?
