My T-Zone is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to oils. No matter how much I prime or powder, the oil just seeps right through. So I’m always down for a product that claims to help with that.
I heard about The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream on YouTube and became very intrigued, so I decided to check it out.
The jar comes with 1.7 oz of product for a price of $17.50. I initially wanted to try a smaller sample size, but those only came with the travel kit, so alas I just bought the larger container. The packaging is simple but cute, white plastic with matte blue labels (how appropriate).
Once you twist off the cap, there’s a white plastic lid inside to prevent any messes or spills. The product itself is a white/semi translucent cream. The cream is light and blends into the skin nicely and quickly. Some have complained about the overwhelming scent, but it really doesn’t bother me. The scent actually reminds me of fresh ocean, not that I really go to the ocean that often… Have you seen my pale skin?!
So anyways, what did I think of the actual product? I wore this product under my makeup as a moisturizer and even as a second moisturizer over my Aveeno moisturizer and to be honest, it was quite disappointing. I was hoping The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream would keep my oil at bay for the whole day, or at least for half the day, but it didn’t really do much for me. I might as well have not worn it at all! I found myself blotting and powdering just as frequently as other days in which I wasn’t wearing it.
All in all, The Body Shop Mattifying Day Cream didn’t work out for me and my oily/combination skin. My oils were just too powerful… But who knows, maybe it’ll work out for you! There have been some rave reviews on their site. If you do decide to try out this product, I would definitely wait for their 40% off sale, which seems to come by often. But for me, this product is a definite pass!
