This review will be on the new NYX Micro Brow Pencil ($9.99) and the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara ($6.99), both in the shade Brunette. I picked them up at my local Ulta.
I dyed my hair this year to a lighter brown and have been meaning to get a lighter brow tint, so I was super excited when NYX released these bad boys. I was also really excited when I heard that the new NYX Micro Brow Pencils were a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz, which I love (you can see my review here).
The NYX Tinted Brow Mascara comes in a cute little tube with a small mascara brush wand. The size reminds me of those free mascara tester wands you usually find in Ulta or Sephora.
First I tested the Tinted Brow Mascara in Brunette on it’s own, in case I’m having one of those ultra lazy days, and the results are great. The tint applies really well with a few swipes and doesn’t require you to build for color (I wouldn’t recommend building the color, as the product can begin to look super unnatural).
The Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette also applied nicely, and the fine tip made it super easy to fill in all the sparse areas. I can definitely see why people claim this to be a dupe, as it really does everything the Anastasia Brow Wiz can do, and dare I say, better?! What I enjoyed about this brow pencil over the Anastasia, is actually the spoolie end. I found the Anastasia one to be too dense, and whenever I would comb out my brows it would brush away most of the pigment. Whereas the spoolie for the NYX Micro Brow Pencil isn’t as dense, so in my opinion it does a better job at softly blending everything together. The NYX Tinted Brow Mascara over the top of the pencil helped to keep everything in place and further blended everything together.
Overall I think this duo is an awesome pair when it comes to your brows. Not only is it super affordable (especially when Ulta has their BOGO deal on NYX, topped with the $3.50 off $10 coupon), but it does just as well of a job as something twice its price. I think I may have found my new brow pencil for life!
